Spotlight · Forbes 30/50 Summit

Turning Pain Into Purpose.

At the Forbes 30/50 Summit in Abu Dhabi, Cassandra Bankson told a room of women leaders that the worst mistake of her career was also the best one. It is the story she carries onto every stage.

The Forbes 30/50 Summit gathers women leaders from across the world in Abu Dhabi each year, around International Women's Day, chaired by Mika Brzezinski. Forbes asked Cassandra to share the lesson that shaped her. She did not reach for a tidy success story. She told them about the mistake.

She was a working model struggling with severe cystic acne. Posting her bare skin online ruined her modeling career, because no one wanted to book a face with pimples on it. By every rule the industry lived by, she had just thrown her career away.

Instead it started a community, a conversation about loving your beauty for who you are, and a company that has now lasted more than a decade. That reversal, from the thing that ended one path to the thing that opened every other one, is the spine of how she speaks.

What audiences walk away with

Three things this talk leaves behind

01 · REFRAME

The best mistake

How to look at the setback that feels like the end of a career and recognize the start of a truer one. Reinvention, told from someone who lived it on a public stage.

02 · TRUTH

Authenticity as strategy

Why vulnerability is not weakness or oversharing, but the most durable way to build trust, a community, and a business that lasts.

03 · PURPOSE

Living in your truth

The terrifying, honest choice is often the one pointing you toward what you are meant to do. A message audiences carry out of the room and into their own decisions.

In her own words

The line audiences remember

"It's okay to be authentic, and it's okay to be vulnerable. Sometimes living in your truth and doing something that is terrifying could be the best thing for you, because it's pointing you down the direction that you need to go in order to expand your business or to expand what you're meant to do for this world."Cassandra Bankson, Forbes 30/50 Summit

Why book this talk

A reinvention story with a working framework underneath

This is not only an inspiring story, though it is one. Cassandra turns her own reversal into something an audience can use: how to tell the truth in public, how to build trust out of the things you are willing to admit, and how to treat a setback as direction rather than defeat. It lands for leadership and women's summits, for beauty and consumer brands, and for any room facing its own reinvention.
